The Focused Approach to Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety seeks to provide designated Focus Cities and Focus States with the tools, knowledge and resources needed to respond to pedestrian and bicycle safety concerns. Since 2004, our program provides direct technical assistance to agencies with demonstrated pedestrian and bicycle safety problems and works with local stakeholders to understand the issues, develop plans and strategies to address them, and implement comprehensive programs comprised of design solutions and behavior-focused campaigns.

This program is part of the Focused Approach to Safety, an initiative of the Federal Highway Administration’s Office of Safety intended to equip agencies with the tools and information needed to respond to a variety of safety problems, from roadway departure and intersection safety to pedestrian and bicycle safety.
